- Glossary of Terms:
- Agent: An apparition seen by a percipient, especially one that wills itself into visibility.
- Apparition: Visual appearance of ANY spirit phenomenon (Human or otherwise – Angles, Demons, Etc.)
- Collective apparition: More than 1 person sees the same spirit phenomenon
- Reciprocal apparition: The agent and percipient see and respond to each other, is very rare.
- “Arrival Cases”: An apparition of a person shows up at the destination before the actual person gets there.
It appears in the same clothing the person is wearing during travel. It looks just like the real person and percipients often talk to them
- “Crisis Apparition”: An out-of-body experience in which the agent projects his or her astral body at the time of a crisis or death to some
other person, usually a loved one.
- Types of Apparitions
- Visual: Appearance of a person, animal or object. Often hazy or blurry.
- Auditory: Most Common Type. Can hear something.
- Olfactory: Smells. (Perfume, etc.)
- Tactile: Least frequent type.
- Two Levels:
- Changes is room temperature
- Actually feel the recording/ghost (touches, hair tugs)
- Entities: Angels & demons: Completely spiritual or ethereal in nature & have never lived as human beings.
- Angelic Entities:
- Serve mainly as messengers or protectors
- Often encountered in near death experiences or times of extreme stress
- Demonic Entities:
- Demons are usually encountered only after an individual invites one in their lives. The most common way is for people to play with
various forms of divination that they haven’t been trained in properly or at all. (Ex. Ouija Boards)
- Once an entity of this type arrives it can be very difficult to send back. Should get a priest or trained professional to deal with demons.
- EVP: Electronic Voice Phenomenon: Actual recording of disembodied sounds and voices picked up in a haunted area
- Ghost:
- The visual appearance of a deceased human being’s spirit
- Residual energy of a person, animal or even an object.
- There is no life force left; a ghost simply “plays” the same scene over and over.
- Ghostbuster: Person who investigates a haunted location with the intent of contacting the ghost and releasing it into the light
- Ghost Hunt: An informal attempt to simply sight or record a ghost in a location similar to those known to be haunted. Less controlled.
- Ghosthunter or paranormal investigator: someone who studies ghostly phenomena in an attempt to understand the causes of the phenomena.
- Ghost investigation: Is a carefully controlled, scientific research project of a location known, reported, or presumed to be haunted. Use audio,
video and still photography.
- Reasons:
- Prove or disprove haunting
- Assist the home or business owners
- Helps ghosts move on
- Hotspot: Areas with a higher frequency of paranormal activity
- Paranormal: of or pertaining to events or perceptions occurring without scientific explanation, as clairvoyance or extrasensory perception.
- Paranormal research: The investigation of experience beyond the range of normal or scientific explanation.
- Percipient: Person who sees an apparition
- Photographic Manifestations
- Orbs: Indication that an area contains a great deal of physic energy NOT actual ghosts or spirits
- Small to Med sized circles that are lighter than the rest of the picture
- Vortices: Generally found at the focal point of a haunted area.
- Usually bright white and taper at the bottom
- Smokey forms or vapors: Though to be actual spirits or even the aura of a living person
- Apparitions: Actual form of the person or object appears on film
- Poltergeists:
- Not ghosts, they have no human form.
- They are noisy, can be dangerous, annoying, playful, mischievous, malicious
- Activity generally centers around one person, rather than an area, that person is called the “epicenter”
- Psychic: Person who has the ability to perceive things that can’t be perceive through normal use of the senses
- Recharging: Recordings (ghosts) can be “recharged” by a person who has an aura similar to the person who made the recording in the first place.
- Sensitive: Someone who is aware of or can feel paranormal presences that can’t be picked up by the normal five senses.
- Spirits
- Spirit: The actual sentient presence or soul of an individual or individuals who have remained with the material world after their physical body has died.
They can travel and attempt to communicate with the living. They can think and reason.
- Reasons they stay:
Spirit doesn’t realize his or her own death.
